This course covers concepts like disability, accessibility, and assistive technology in relation to the workplace.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Define assistive technology (AT).
- Differentiate between types of AT devices.
- Explain the benefits of AT in the workplace.
- Identify how to acquire AT to assist in the workplace.
- Evaluate AT they may need to better perform job duties.
- Illustrate self-determination related to using AT in the workplace.
- Demonstrate self-advocacy and self-determination.
Who this course is for:
Pre-ETS participants – typically 14-21 years old individuals with disabilities within the scope of transition-related consultative and technical assistance (TA) services.

A DRS client is defined by DRS as an individual who:
- is 14-21 years old;
- has a documented disability as determined by the DRS;
- is enrolled in an educational program, such as homeschool, high school, or post-secondary education;
- has applied for and been determined eligible by the DRS; and
- has an approved individualized plan for employment (IPE).

A potentially-eligible student with a documented disability is defined by the DRS as an individual who:
- is 14-21 years old; and
- has an individualized education program (IEP); or
- has a 504 Plan; or
- has a documented disability, regardless of whether they have applied or have been determined eligible for the DRS; and
- is enrolled in an educational program, such as homeschool, high school, or post-secondary education.
